Everseed π± Community Roots
Why & how we want our community to be a reflection of our vision & values
Hi everyone, thank you so much for your interest in our project, Everseed. We have been completely blown away by how quickly our community grew in such a short period of time. Two weeks ago, we updated our website and Twitter with minimal information and honestly expected to lay low for months. It has been incredibly humbling to receive the response we did from you all, and we are filled with the utmost gratitude and appreciationβand weβre also super excited! π€©
Our original plan for building a community on Discord was to do it gradually, for two primary reasons. The first is safety. If the events of the last few days were not enough indication, Web3 is unfortunately laden with scammers and bad actors attempting to take advantage of the ecosystemβs nascency. In order to better protect our Everseed community, the team wanted the requisite time to deploy the optimal technical solutions at our disposal (e.g., Discord bots). π€
The second important factor was cultural. Despite Web3βs growing pains, one of the main reasons we originally became so interested in the space was witnessing how close relationships would develop between creators and their highly engaged and passionate fans. A more openly communicative and collaborative process of development with the community resonated strongly with us. At its core,Β Everseed strives to build a digital society that engages and uplifts players for not just years, but generations. After lurking in a myriad of other Web3 communities, we were left disappointed to find many conversations were focused primarily around financial gains when there are so many more inspiring ideals that Web3 could enable. One of these is the development of deeper and more meaningful relationships with friends online, which represents the foundation for early community building. π€
With our Discord server now numbering in the tens of thousands, we have been reflecting and discussing internally how we might best still accomplish our original goal. If we opened up the floodgates for everyone to chat at the same time, our worry was that chaos would ensue (like it did when our Discord was first discovered). So, aside from keeping the Discord read-only forever, we thought the next best approach was to enable chat permissions to individuals over a phased rollout. However, an important question remained: how should we decide the ordering? π€
To provide context on our decision making process, now might be a good time to introduce our studio, Amihan Entertainment, and the cultural foundations upon which it was established. Our vision is to equalize opportunity for all through games. This of course pays homage to what we hope to ultimately accomplish with our product, Everseed, but also plays a major role in Amihanβs hiring practices as we continually aim to meet our internal diversity goals. Above all else, we are a values-based organization, and some key ones that maintain relevance for our community include:
Uphold Empathy & Inclusion π
We champion and defend diversity: it is our unique superpower that uplifts our creativity
Nurture Each Other π±
We root for and cultivate one another so that we may grow and bloom together
Player Devoted π
Dedicated to the next gamer generation, we want to deliver joy and value to billions around the world
In trying to decide the ordering of community member chat privileges, we grounded ourselves on our company vision & values as directional guideposts. With the first groupings of individuals, we focused on free responses that promoted consistent values we would like our community to uphold in its early days. Our hope is that, in so doing, early participants can set the tone and establish a cultural foundation for Everseedβs community, which can then be nurtured into maturity by future entrants who learn from them by example. We have also codified these values in our Everseed Community Code of Conduct, which you may find after the end of this note. π
In addition to culture, the success of Everseed ultimately rides on whether the game is enduringly fun or not. Building a great game is extremely difficult, even with the best teams. An integral part of a game projectβs success is conducting external playtests, receiving feedback, and iterating further based on that feedback. We intend on consistently measuring the βfunβ with our community during pivotal moments in the development process. Many of you have already taken the first step in becoming involved in this process with our early playtester application. This is just one early example of how we want to provide various opportunities for you all to volunteer deeper involvement in our community in unique ways. π
Our decision to put the player first above all else originates from our founding teamβs experience building great games at Riot. While this approach may be new for Web3, we hope to set a higher standard by which all future Web3 gaming projects can and should be measured against. Yes, we understand the decision to integrate with Web3 is currently contentious among many gamers and game developers. We ingest the same media you do, and frankly agree that there are far too many projects built upon multiple troubling axes. π΅βπ«
However, blockchain is just a tool, and like any other tool or technology, it is not inherently good or evil. Ultimately, that determination largely depends on those who wield it, and how they choose to wield it. Starting with this post and continuing over the coming months, our plan is to gradually reveal more details about how differently we are approaching all aspects of our project: from community building to token rewards, from game & economy design to worldbuilding, from technical architecture to art directionβ¦ We have much to talk about! We are eager to hear and internalize your feedback, earning your trust with thoughtful bidirectional dialogue and open collaboration. π€
With your trust, together we know we can usher in a new era not just for gaming or tech, but for humanity. We hope our vision of equalizing opportunity resonates with you as strongly as it does with us. Hand in hand with you, Everseed can be uplifted and represent the dawn of a new community-first society rooted in the noblest of human ideals. We are so incredibly excited to embark on this adventure together with you, and look forward to meeting and becoming friends with each of you as we grant increasingly more members permissions to chat every day. Thanks so much for your interest, patience, and understanding. You are all amazing. Welcome home! πππ
Yours truly,
Amihan Entertainment
